Description
Everolimus is a transplant medicine to prevent organ rejection and in oncology for the treatment of certain types of cancer.
Indications
- Prevention of organ rejection in kidney transplant recipients
- Treatment of certain types of cancer, including advanced renal cell carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors, and hormone receptor-positive breast cancer
Dosage and Administration
- Dosage: The dosage depends on the patient’s medical condition, transplant type, and other medications being taken. In oncology, typical doses range from 5mg to 10mg once daily.
- Take orally, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea
- Mouth sores
- Rash
- Elevated blood sugar levels
- Decreased appetite
- Infections
Serious side effects may include severe infections, lung or breathing problems, liver or kidney problems, and development of certain types of cancer.
Precautions
- It suppresses the immune system, increases the risk of infections and certain cancers. Calling for Regular monitoring signs of infection or malignancy.
- Can interact with other medications, including strong inhibitors or inducers of CYP3A4, inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken.
- Can harm an unborn baby and is not recommended during pregnancy. Avoid during breastfeeding
Storage
- Store Everolimus tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep out of reach of children.

- XEVIROL typically comes in a box containing 10 tablets of 5mg each.
