Description
What Vimpat Is and Its Uses
Vimpat 200mg tablets 56s contains lacosamide, an antiepileptic medication used to treat epilepsy. It reduces the number of seizures (fits) and doctors use it either on its own or with other antiepileptic medicines.
Vimpat is prescribed for:
- Treat partial-onset seizures, with or without secondary generalization, in adults, adolescents, and children (aged 2+). These seizures initially affect one side of the brain and can spread to both side
- Manage primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (major fits, including loss of consciousness) in patients aged 4+ with idiopathic generalized epilepsy, a form of epilepsy thought to have a genetic cause.
Precautions with Vimpat
- Alcohol: Avoid alcohol while taking Vimpat 200mg tablets 56s for safety reasons.
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Women should discuss contraceptive use with a doctor. Avoid vimpat during pregnancy due to unknown effects on the baby. Do not breastfeed as the drug passes into breast milk. If pregnant or planning to be, consult a doctor for guidance and do not stop Vimpat without medical advice, as this may worsen seizures, potentially harming the baby.
