Description
Lidocaine, an anesthetic, alleviates post-herpetic neuralgia, a prevalent complication of shingles, caused by the herpes zoster virus, also known as “chickenpox.” Shingles results in a painful rash, typically on one side of the torso, and affects both the skin and nerve fibers. Post-herpetic neuralgia manifests as persistent burning pain even after the shingles rash has healed. It’s important to apply lidocaine exclusively on undamaged skin.
