Indications and Usage
Atropine sulphate pfs 0.1mg/ml 10s, 5ml, USP, temporarily blocks severe or life-threatening muscarinic effects. It reduces saliva production (antisialagogue), acts as an antivagal agent, and serves as an antidote in certain situations.
Dosage and Administration
General Guidelines: Before administering, always inspect the injectable solution for particles or discoloration. Do not use if the solution or container is damaged.
Dosage Forms and Strengths: Atropine Sulfate Injection 0.1mg/ml 10s is available as an injectable solution with a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL in glass syringes.
Contraindications
There are no specific contraindications for Atropine sulphate pfs 0.1mg/ml 10s.
Warnings and Precautions
Risk of Tachycardia: Patients with coronary artery disease should limit the total atropine dose to 2-3 mg (or a maximum of 0.03 to 0.04 mg/kg) to prevent excessively rapid heart rates.
Drug Interactions
Mexiletine Interaction: Atropine Sulfate Injection can delay the absorption of mexiletine but does not affect its overall oral bioavailability. This delay is also reversible.
Use in Special Populations
Pregnancy: No animal studies have assessed the effects of atropine during pregnancy. Therefore, its risk to the fetus or impact on reproductive health is unknown.
Overdose Risks
Symptoms of an overdose may include rapid heartbeat, dilated pupils, difficulty swallowing, dry skin, thirst, dizziness, restlessness, tremors, and fatigue. Extremely high doses might lead to severe restlessness and additional symptoms.
Product Description
Atropine Sulfate Injection, USP, is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution with atropine sulfate monohydrate dissolved in water. Also, add Sodium chloride to ensure isotonicity.
Mechanism of Action
Atropine works as an antimuscarinic agent, blocking the muscarinic-like effects of acetylcholine and similar substances.
