Description
Aldomet contains the active ingredient methyldopa, an antihypertensive medication used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). By relaxing blood vessels, methyldopa improves blood flow, helping to prevent serious conditions like strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
This medication can be taken alone or in combination with other blood pressure medications. It’s typically prescribed to be taken orally 2 to 4 times a day, with or without food. For best results and to reduce the risk of side effects, start or increase doses in the evening. If your doses are not equal, take the larger dose at bedtime.
