Description
The AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu® spacer for adults, which typically comes in blue and includes a face mask, is an effective device designed to improve the delivery of aerosolized medication from metered-dose inhalers (MDIs). This device is specifically engineered to aid adults who may have difficulty using an MDI alone, such as those with coordination challenges or respiratory conditions that require assisted inhalation support.
Key Features
1. Flow-Vu® Indicator: This visual indicator moves when the patient inhales through the mask, allowing both the patient and caregiver to confirm that the inhaler is being used correctly and that medication is being effectively delivered.
2. Latex-Free Material: Safety is enhanced with the use of latex-free materials, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions.
3. Anti-Static Chamber: The chamber is designed to prevent medication from adhering to the sides, thereby maximizing the amount of medication delivered.
Instructions for Use
1. Preparation:
– Remove the cap from the MDI and shake well.
– Insert the MDI into the back end of the AeroChamber.
2. Administering Medication:
– Press down on the MDI to release a dose of medication into the AeroChamber.
– Take a slow, deep breath in and hold it for about 5-10 seconds to allow the medication to settle in the lungs. Watch the Flow-Vu® indicator to ensure proper inhalation.
– If more than one puff is required, wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute between puffs and repeat the steps.
3. Post-Use:
– Take the MDI out of the AeroChamber.
– Replace the cap on the MDI.
5. Cleaning:
– Disassemble the mask and spacer.
– Wash with warm soapy water and let it air dry on a clean, dry surface.
– Avoid wiping the chamber with towels or other materials to prevent static build-up.
The AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu® for adults is a highly beneficial device for enhancing the delivery of medications from MDIs, particularly for individuals who struggle with direct inhaler use. Proper use and maintenance of the device are crucial for ensuring its effectiveness and maximizing the benefits of inhalation therapy.
